Coaching – what do we do?
The power of coaching is in the relationship of coach and coachee. The first step is to make sure that the relationship dynamic works.
We take some time to assess this and discover what it is the coachee wants, and then make a flexible coaching plan.
We get very clear about what it is that needs to be achieved...
Coaching has the capacity to be life changing. Sometimes it is difficult to know the scope of possibilities at the beginning, but new ideas reveal themselves as the coaching unfolds. Coaching is very focused on results. It also makes sure that the action taken conforms with the values and principals of the individual which ensures the right rewarding results.
Why?
Sometimes people just need to have time to be listened to without being judged and without it being 'someone else's turn!' So that means a conversation can run and explore avenues without any pressures.
It gives reflection time, creative time, logical 'thinking it through' time, a plan and a way forward.
It can be magical to see what happens when people are set free in their thinking.
Who?
Anyone who wants to do something differently and has the courage to explore and change!
How?
A coaching contract sets out agreements and timescales.
This can be every week/fortnight or month for as long as it is required and a coaching session is typically for on hour.
When?
When it suits you, for example, presentation coaching can be most valuable a couple of weeks before a presentation. It focuses the mind having to stand and deliver and prepares for success.
One-off coaching
For a specific purpose is valuable.
Post retreat/course coaching
This can be valuable to help integrate newly learnt tools and skills.
Coaching can be a combination of telephone coaching and email support.
“Can't see the wood for the trees? – a cliche but so many of us have a sense of lacking time, purpose and definition in our life, struggling to see our own life with the fresh perspective needed to clear a path forward. I knew roughly where I wanted to go but lacked a strategy. I needed help to dismantle and identify the strands and themes in my life – to prioritise and target difficulties I could address immediately and identify the steps needed to master the areas of my life I have helplessly avoided. Life coaching with Nicola has and is doing just this – with keen insight and clarity she has made me feel I'm moving forward again with joyful anticipation – audaciously!”
