‘Fortnite’ fans will soon be able to get their hands on a new weapon, the Junk Rift, which will come as part of the 10.10 update.

The Junk Rift will be included in the game as part of the 10.10 update and it has been described as a:

“throwable item that breaks on contact and spawns a large object in the sky that plummets to the ground”.

It does this by:

“creating a small shockwave upon landing that damages players and destroys everything in its radius”.

‘Fortnite’ has previously received criticism by parents and teachers for taking over children’s lives as they are addicted to playing the game but Paul Howard Jones, who has been researching the role of technology and gaming in education, claims that ‘Fortnite’ could be good for the classroom.

The leading education expert said:

“There’s been a demonising of technology. It’s not the technology, it’s the way that you use it. There are little aspects of games that you can borrow and insert into lessons to make lessons more engaging and more likely to give rise to learning.”

A study was carried out on year eight pupils in Wales and they were more engaged when teachers offered random rewards rather than a standard question and answer format.

He added:

“They prefer that, they find that very engaging, it’s very exciting. And that’s basically turning something into more like a computer game where you’ve got this rapid schedule of uncertain rewards.”
