You could say I fell into training...
After grinding to a halt in a big sales presentation, having to sit back down in front of 120 people sharpened my resolve to beat my inability to breathe and present at the same time. I started to teach what I needed to learn, so I began with presentation training!
16 years as a trainer and coach has allowed me to work worldwide, across organisations and in a variety of market sectors. I have enjoyed the opportunity of working with inspiring clients and a wide variety of coaches and trainers.
It has been mind-expanding and heart-warming, listening to the stories of many people and discovering the strength and the frailty of human nature.
To reach adulthood unscathed is rare. I see people and their broken wings. How people protect that broken wing manifests itself in many ways. Protective strategies create a by-pass to pain. Sometimes this behaviour is conscious but more often than not it is unconscious.
When I challenge the beliefs that drive people's behaviour I see them expand their options and ways of being. They transform their experience of life in their family and organisations. I observe what it is that people do and how they integrate sustainable change.
In 2009 I realised a long-held desire to take a year's sabatical, live in France and learn the language (it was both humbling and thrilling!). It gave me time to read, research and explore the industry of people development and train myself further.
As I'm approaching 50 I was also keen to explore the physical element of wellness and ensure I have a healthy trajectory through my second fifty years!
I discovered and fell in love with NIA This incorporates the physical elements of body along with the mind and emotions and has given a balance to the work that I do and integrates perfectly, overlapping in so many ways.
