‘Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’ almost featured a ‘Buddy boost’ co-op mode.

The title – which is released on October 25 – was originally set to enable players to work together, but it was later decided that players wouldn’t be inclined to co-op that often.

Map design director, Jeffrey Smith explained to Prima Games:

“It’s really hard to get some random person to cooperate with you.

“You have to let somebody kind of climb up you and get you up and they would get up there.”

Meanwhile, Infinity Ward co-founder Vince Zampella previously admitted he has mixed feelings about the reboot.

Zampella – who was axed by Activision alongside his professional partner Jason West in 2010 – admitted while he is “a little bit emotional” at the prospect of the revival, he finds it “humbling”.

He explained:

“There’s a part of it where it’s humbling. It’s like somebody that I was involved in is worthy of being rebooted.

“It’s got so much history that people want to see it grow and evolve. There’s a little bit of that, ‘Wow, that legacy is huge.’ That’s humbling.”

Zampella admitted he was wondering how the legacy of the series could be impacted by the response and reception to the upcoming new title.

While his feelings towards the game swing back and forth, he said overall he’s confident Infinity Ward is “in it for the right reasons”.

Famed video game composer Sarah Schachner – who has also worked on titles like ‘Assassin’s Creed Origins’ and ‘Anthem’ – has recorded the soundtrack after scoring Infinity Warfare’s ‘Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare’ project in 2016.

She tweeted:

“Well I guess it’s public now… I’m scoring ‘Modern Warfare’ and couldn’t be more thankful to get to work with Infinity Ward again on such an amazing project.

“It’s def been hard to keep this one secret… #CallofDutyModernWarfare (sic)”
