Rich Lambert, Creative Director at Zenimax Online Studios, has revealed the team are “exploring” the options when it comes to making the title fit the specifications for the upcoming next-generation consoles, so they haven’t ruled out getting the role-playing game on the upcoming hardware.
He told Trusted Reviews:
“We’re just now kind of digging into that.
“The specs were only released a couple of weeks ago but we have definitely heard the fans, yes, you know?
“They’re saying ‘We want this! We want this on there [on next-gen consoles].’ So we’re exploring what that means and when and if we could do that.”
Rich’s comments come after a huge ‘Elder Scrolls Online’ update launched on consoles earlier this month.
The title’s Patching Overhaul in Update 25 altered the way it’s download, patched and stored on consoles and also improved load time and significantly reduced the space it takes up on the hard drive.
However, the downside is the update required the game to be re-downloaded from scratch, and even with the auto-update sorting it out, it still took a while.
In a blog post, the team explained that after the update, players will “see major improvements to the game’s load time and the speed at which assets are loaded into the world”, and added that “this change dramatically reduces the patch sizes for all future updates”.
