The hugely popular action RPG – which was first released on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in January 2018 with a PC version launching summer the same year – has just hit a new milestone.

So far, the game has now shipped over 15 million copies, with the Iceborne expansion hitting 4 million copies worldwide.

The figures place ‘Monster Hunter: World’ as Capcom’s best seller, with ‘Resident Evil 5’ the closest title with 7.5 million copies shipped.

It means the ‘franchise as a whole has now hit 61 million copies, although the ‘Resident Evil’ series still holds the record there with 93 million.

Meanwhile, Capcom is looking to attract even more players to the saga with a number of different initiatives.

These will included a new ‘Monster Hunter: World Iceborne XR Walk’ attraction at Universal Studios Japan, which will start in March.

The company is also looking to Hollywood with a new ‘Monster Hunter’ film – starring Milla Jovovich – set to hit the big screen in September.
