The firm is due to reveal all details regarding their upcoming next-gen console – which is due out at the end of the year – at 4pm (GMT), with lead system architect Mark Cerny set to host the stream.
The announcement comes after Microsoft unleashed the full tech specifications for their rival console Xbox Series X.

Meanwhile, gamers have been assured the next wave of titles will build on what made the PlayStation 4 era so popular.
Hermen Hulst, the boss of PlayStation Worldwide Studios, is conscious of what gaming fans want and has pledged that the next wave of games will build on the console’s successful legacy.
He said this week:
“We’re very committed to dedicated hardware, as we were before. We’re gonna continue to do that. And we’re very committed to quality exclusives. And to strong narrative-driven, single-player games.
“At the same time, we’re going to be very open to experimentation, to new ideas. Just trying things out to see what works. I think that’s also very much part of the DNA of Worldwide Studios.”
Sony recently announced it was shutting down the PlayStation community forums.
The online boards – which served to help and support users who have encountered issues with their devices and accounts – were deactivated at the end of February.
In a brief announcement by community manager Groovy Matthew, he simply wrote:
“Beginning 27th February, the PlayStation.com forums will no longer be available.
“We invite you to continue the conversation via PlayStation.Blog, Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. For product support, please visit the support site, Playstation.com/help/ (sic)”
